Day 30 - No real miles since Day 19 (coming from Hickory, NC to Shepherdstown, WV.
Total miles so far: 3,868 (hmm seems farther than that)
Sanity sets in
I've had a nice break and a good visit with my friends Kathleen & Breighton. I've \worked on a few images, which is much more difficult on a laptop with out my Wacom pen pad or a mouse. The mouse I can add pretty easily, but I don't think I'll be picking up a new Wacom to carry around on the bike (unless they come out with a roll-up version)........
I suspect I'll just do some basic stuff – cropping, exposure corrections, etc and leave the more complex stuff for when I get home. I've updated the website so I can use Lightroom to generate the galleries. While I'm not in love with flash, this saves me a lot of time in terms of updating and will have to do until I can get the galleries built on the fly out of a database.
Moving On.
From Shepherdstown, WV I'll be heading to Philadelphia, to play tourist for a day or two, I'll be heading up though Gettysburg, and Lancaster (Pennsylvania Dutch country). From there I'm going over to Connecticut to visit Anne & Andrew and the various little port towns including Mystic. On the 17th I'll be heading north to a timeshare that K&B have made available to me for a week and I'll be doing daily loops from there – I'll probably do at least one two day loop up into Vermont & New Hampshire, but Sanity has set in and I've given up on hitting the north tip of Maine. I may wander into the very southern tip of Main on my way to Salem, MA From Salem NH. From Salem MA I'll head down to the coast roads and though Road Island, and Connecticut, Then back to K&B's for Halloween. From there my current plan will take me down the Blue Ridge Parkway to Asheville, then into the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. I'll probably also cut the South east corner off, and mostly follow the Blue Ridge Parkway SSW, and aim for New Orleans – Then west. I'll be leaving the camping gear behind for this leg, as I'll only be in hotels for about 5 nights out of about 20.
Part of this is because I keep thinking about the things I didn't get done before I left, partially because I'd like to get home before December. It's probably a bit silly because I know I'll go back on the road (in a car) to shoot more snow images, but I can get a few things done around the house for sure. This comes back to my original desire to get rid of stuff because the demands it puts on my time are greater than the enjoyment value I get from it.
